With Tom Brady out of the game due to his recent knee injury and surgery, it’s given him more time to spend with that sweet little Jack!  It definitely sounds like a win-win to us, well unless you are the Patriots or a fan.  Oh well, all of our best wishes to Tom and the Pats!  He’ll be back before you know it!

In Tom’s extra little off-season, besides surgery a week ago, recovery and starting rehab soon back in Boston, he has been doing a little shopping for Jack!  He’s been in LA for a few days before heading back to Beantown and ordered some lovely things from Petit Tresor!

At long last we’ve finally found exactly where you too can find THE most perfect pair of little gold mary janes that we have ever laid eyes on. That sweet little Suri Cruise has been spotted in them about a gazillion times.

Every time we see a photo of her, it’s those fabulous little shoes that we’re dreaming of!  This one really took some research and apparently it’s nothing but the absolute best for this pint-sized fashion icon. The shoes are called “Galgrain” and they are from Bonpoint, one of the very finest children’s fashion houses in Paris.  The shoes come in a variety of sizes from infant through toddler and then girls. They retail for between $220 and $270 depending on size, and ooh la la are they ever la crème de la crème.

We are so excited about this week’s review of the ERGO Baby Carrier! It is a complete solution and does so much for only one product! It is extremely versatile, works for a broad range of ages and is so incredibly well-made that it will actually last through this broad range of ages a few times over!

Marcia Cross and her sweet little twin girls Eden and Savannah were at Petit Tresor in Brentwood, CA this past weekend. Daddy, Tom Mahoney must sat this one out.  They were just browsing but couldn’t eave the store without half a dozen super cozy pink blankets from My Blankee!

Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend visited Petit Tresor in West Hollywood over the weekend, getting a good start on the baby shopping!  Rumor has it that they are expecting their first child this coming spring!

The cutie couple purchased two diaper bags from Petunia Picklebottom and a celeb-must-have Kensington Playmat from Plain Mary.  Congrats to the lovely couple!

Matt Damon and his wife Luciana recently welcomed Gia Zavala, baby girl #3 into their family.  Matt must feel a little overwhelmed by all of that estrogen from our guess, but absolutely elated as well!  Congrats Matt and Luciana, and welcome little Gia!

Baby, we’re sure that there were tons of gifts, but we recently got some insider 411 on a nice little surprise that was sent from the uber-chic celeb favorite MilkShop.com!  The package contained some beautiful things and we thought we’d pass the info along just in case any of you have your own little new arrivalettes that need a little something extra special.

Hatley’s new backpacks and lunch totes are pretty impressive.  They of course are made with the high quality that we would expect form all things labeled Hatley, but they spare no expense in the design and production departments!  It’s so great when something works and functions as well as it looks, right?!?!  That’s typically Hatley!

The backpack is very roomy without being oversized, and makes great use of its’ compartments.  The lunch tote fits very neatly inside too!  The zippers are made for kid-use and the canvas that they are constructed of is absolutely made for loads of loads and multiple washings.  We love the apple print the most but were a little concerned as it is mostly white…hmmm…SCOTCHGUARD, GIRLS!  It works fabulously and will keep people in wonder and amazement of how you could be that good to keep your little sweetie in a white backpack that always looks new!

The Lunch Tote is fabulous too and makes a great little travel cooler as well if your set hasn’t reached school age yet.  Again, it washes quite well and you can keep it looking new forever with a little Scotchguard.  The inside is lined in plastic, and there’s an elastic tether to keep things from bouncing around inside.

Jennifer Garner and the always adorable Violet were spotted shopping at Petit Tresor in Brentwood, CA last Friday.  Violet scored a new piggy bank and she and Mommy left with lots of Plain Mary basics, some organic blankets, and a new diaper bag from Petunia Pickle Bottom.

We can’t wait to see the new baby and what a fantastic big sister little Violet will be!  She just seems so sweet!

This past week we had an exciting opportunity to interview Nina Takesh, one of the owners and creators of Petit Tresor!  We want to pass the highlights on to you:

On the story behind the store:

Crista:  What was your inspiration behind the store?

Nina:  We had both just had babies.  Samantha had twins (a boy and a girl) and I had a son.  We couldn’t find nursery items that we really loved. On a whim, we traveled to Paris and were amazed at the nursery items that were available on the market!  That was our inspiration.

Crista:  So both having new babies AND a new business?  How on earth did you do it?

Nina:  (laughing) It’s amazing how much time the babies spent on playmats in our first store!

Crista:  What was your vision for the future back then compared to now?

Nina:  Our goal was to introduce European style to Americans. Today, we’re still doing the same, but we’re a bit more eclectic and modern, yet still traditional.

Crista:  In retrospect, what worked, and what didn’t work?

Nina:  It all worked. It was all a big experiment trying to learn what American mothers wanted for their babies.

On The Petit Tresor Experience:

Crista:  What really defines the ‘Petit Tresor Experience’ for your customers and makes it so unique?

Nina:  The fact that you can find everything under one roof and that if you can’t find it and we’re designing a nursery for you, we’ll go anywhere to find it. This is a service that many of our celebrity customers love about Petit Tresor.

Crista:  What’s your favorite product in the store?

Nina:  Without a doubt, the playmat from Plain Mary.  Every baby should have a monogrammed playmat. It’s the best shower gift, and it’s so practical!

Crista:  What’s your favorite memory in the building of your business?

Nina:  When Petit Tresor was featured in People Magazine for the nursery of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins, Emme and Max.

Crista:  What’s your favorite new line or upcoming designer?

Nina:  We love everything from Plain Mary including their burpcloths, bibs, changing pads and t-shirts.  We love Mia Bossi diaper bags and everything from Kissy Kissy.  Our designer hospital robes from Dear Johnnies are a must have for every mother about to give birth too!

Crista:  Sounds fabulous!  We absolutely adore Mia Bossi bags too!  In your experience, what is one item that no mom should do without?

Nina:  A designer hospital robe from Dear Johnnies but also one of our silk photo albums which are just gorgeous!

On ‘What’s all the buzz?’:

Crista:  Who shops or has registered at Petit Tresor?

Nina:  Everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Britney Spears to Nicole Richie to Christina Aguilera to Matthew McConaughey to Heidi Klum to Tori Spelling to Halle Berry… it’s a very, very long list.

Crista:  What do your celebrity clients shop and register for?  Any favorite picks???

Nina:  Everything from the essentials, to having us design their entire nursery.  Sometimes these clients have more than one home also.  Our organic bedding, complete layette selection and our incredible selection of picture frames are also very popular.

Crista:  Do you offer any special or exclusive services?

Nina:  We of course offer our Nursery Design service, but we also offer our Concierge Service which entails us sending our clients everything that they need for their baby each month from birth through toddlerhood.

Crista:  Your new website is fantastic, but what else is next for Petit Tresor?

Nina:  We have plans to open two more retail shops this year in Malibu and San Francisco,  and New York and Miami in 2009!  We are very excited about the future of Petit Tresor!

How many of you find that the before and after look of your home is dramatically different once the little prince or princess hits home?  It’s the huge footprint of toys and baby gear left in their wake that gets hard to deal with sometimes.  What used to look like something out of the pages of Better Homes and Gardens, ends up a kid-zone.  We are so happy that someone is finally coming up with toys that are super fun, but at the same time don’t scream childish in your beautifully furnished home! 

The new ABC Chocolate Collection by Italtrike is absolutely lovely.  It incorporates beautifully finished wood and that fantastic Italian design that always gets us all googley-eyed!  Of the four available pieces in the collection, we received the Triciclino and the Cavallino.  (Take a look at www.italtrike.com for more information on the other two pieces in the collection.)

The Triciclino is absolutely the finest tricycle that we have ever seen.  It’s not only beautiful and can work within your decor, but it’s a pretty smooth ride too from what our favorite little toy-tester tells us!  The wheels are made of a soft rubbery plastic which is is big plus.  They grip the floor better and don’t show wear and tear like hard plastics or foams do.  The wheels also have some weight to them which adds stability to the trike.  The pedals are substantial and nicely shaped, making it a great training trike for kids who are learning to pedal.  It’s a fantastic indoor toy – not too big, and looks so nice!  Not something we would recommend for outside use though.

The Cavallino is equally as wonderful.  We love the detail and lines of the collection as a whole, but the quirky little texture on this horsey’s mane is just too cute!  The rockers on the bottom work really well and have a safe slope to them unlike some other rocking horses out there.  They have this great little curve that goes back out at the tips, preventing tips and accidents when your rowdy little sweetie starts rocking too hard…whew!  

The fact that this collection matches the family coffee table might just be enough for you, but amazingly enough they are truly fantastic toys!  It’s so exciting just to think of the living room as just a living room and not another extension of the playroom with toys all over.  All four pieces are recommended for ages 2-5 and retail for between $90 – $150.  Maybe the ABC Chocolate Collection will help you to find something in-between though, since everyone loves Chocolate!
