#SWAGALERT: Design Your Dream Swingset!!!

SWAGkidscreations

So you’ve been thinking about getting “The Family Swing Set”.  Got kids.  Got Family.  Why not?  Have you looked into the different ones that are available?  Have you researched quality and construction?  Safety and / or chemical concerns of the materials that are used, perhaps?  How about what this beast is going to look like a few years from now?  What are the maintenance requirements annually?  Will you need a Master’s in Engineering to get the blasted thing up?  Will it take a month?  How hard can it be?  It is a child’s plaything after all… right?

We were quite honestly shocked by the amount of information and the questions that one needs answered in order to make the best choice when it comes to swing sets.  We came through yet again for you though!  Here it is…  Drumroll please…  Without further adieu, the product of months of research and our Favorite Swing Set Company is… Kid’s Creations!!

We chose Kid’s Creations for every reason.  We were surprised though that the highest quality set was also the best price by comparison!  Buying from Kids Creations allows you to purchase directly from the manufacturer, and in turn you save a TON of money!  How’s 50% off sound??  Oooh yeah.  They also won us over for their commitment to being the safest and highest quality swing set on the market.  You can even custom design your own at the same great prices!!!  Most of the elements come pre-assembled too so when you go to build it you’ll be amazed by how quickly it goes up!  (Makes dad look like a real pro-builder too!)  Take a look at these side by side comparisons of some of the materials…

Many of the woods that are used in other swing sets today are either not safe due to chemical treatments or simply will just not hold up to weathering and the test of time.  Kids Creations uses 100% premium Con-Heart Redwood exclusively – the highest grade right from the center of the Redwood tree.  They are the only company in their industry to do so.  Overkill?  We think not.  Less is less, more is more and the BEST IS THE BEST!  Con-Heart Redwood is naturally weather and rot resistant, bug resistant and is virtually splinter free!  In today’s world as parents you just can’t be too safe when it comes to chemical treatments too.  With Kids Creations there simply are none.  NO chemicals at all.  We love that.  The fact that it is rot resistant naturally is a huge plus too.  Unlike many other brands of swing sets, you don’t have to stain or seal it… EVER!  Maintenance free and again, no chemicals – LOVE IT!  They are also committed to buying only wood that has been sustainably forested and take our protecting our environment seriously which as parents we all appreciate.

How’s assembly, you ask?  Well, you could practically land a helicopter on ours, so it took a little bit of time.  We counted it out as about 30 hours total, meaning that if we had 3 guys it would have been ten hours.  Hardest part?  The twisty slide.  Easiest part?  Everything else!!  This is MUCH less of your time (or your favorite contractor’s:)!!!) than competitor’s products would take because so many things are pre-assembled!  The directions that came with our set were absolutely detailed and custom designed as blueprints for our custom set.  When I had a question (twice), I called them and even on the weekend someone was available and helped me resolve my issue immediately!  Excellent customer service… redefined!!!

Are you one of those people who like to customize everything?  Do you look at things always thinking how you would have designed it, or how you would have wished it different?  Do you maybe need to fit an odd shaped space in your yard? Look. No. Further.  As mentioned before, Kids Creations has a system on their website where you can design the absolute swingset of your dreams, yet still carry over that amazing 50% off discount like with the pre-designed sets!!!  (WARNING: This can get addictive… you know… something you sit at the computer with a bowl of popcorn with for wayyy too long style addictive.)  Single tower or double?  Two swings or four?  Did you want the rock climbing wall on the front or off to the side?  Where was the helicopter landing pad supposed to go again??? You get the picture.  You make it what you want.  You are in control.  You are the designer.  You can fit it within your budget.  You’da boss.  It’s all about you.  Give it a try and you’ll see what we’re saying!  Want to see a catalog instead?  CLICK HERE to order your complimentary copy.

SWAG ALERT:  So there you have it.  Kids Creations blew our socks off and now all of you get to have the same experience!  They have generously offered one lucky reader a $500 gift certificate towards the purchase of their very own set too!  Just visit them at www.KidsCreations.com and comment back to us with what you think.  You know how it works and what to do.  This SWAG ALERT will be open until we say so.  Good luck and have fun designing the swing set of your dreams… ahem, of your kids dreams!!!

Aw... there's no plug-in for me to download so I can design one! :(

    Still, it looks like fun!
  • bethvages
My wild child would love this!!!!!!!
  • The Swingset of My Dreams and The Daycare Kiddos Dream would have several Swings.. because they all want to swing at the same time.. My dream swingset would have a nice safe place for the kiddos to stand and get situated before sitting down to go down the slide. Some Swingsets have no landing at the top of the slide and the littles have a hard time getting all set to GO!!!
Thanks for the chance.. Please Answer my Dreams!
  • Forgot to tell you that my swingset that I designed had...
    Double Tower
    4-Position Beam
    Baby Swing
    Red Swing
    Red Swing
    Red Swing
    Tube Slide Yellow
    Large Slide Green
    Large Slide Green
    Ladder
    Ladder
    Red/Yellow Canopy
    Tire Swing
    Sand Box

    It is beautiful.. Thanks!

To be honest...I am not crafty enough with designing programs but I do really love the one in the above picture. It has everything I nee. Does that count?
  • dor
    I subscribe by email.
  • I love all the accessories they carry, especially the drawbridge!
  • I tried to design my own swing set but it wont let me... Sorry
  • Wow.... this is too fun! There are so many different things you could make it would be hard to settle on what to do! The playset that I just designed had the following items:

I choose the 2 swingset frame, with an extension & high tower.

I added a yellow tube slide, 2 blue 14' slides, 1 blue slide, 1 draw bridge, 1 monkey bars, 1 trapeze, 1 ladder, 1 glider, 1 red swing, 1 rope disk, 1 steering wheel, 1 telescope, 1 picnic table & 1 tire swing. Of course I was just playing around & went all out... if I actually bought this in reality I'm sure I'd be more conservative in my pickings ~ great concept though!
  • Hey Crista, How fun is this!! I went (had to install something from Adobe to view it) and built my dream swingset..oh I mean my 'kids' dream swingset. I chose the ext. 19x 11.7 and added 3 swings (red, green, blue) a glider, rope ladder, green side, 2 color canopy, steering wheel, telescope, and handles. Thanks for the fun.
  • shannonosulllivan
OMGness!! I just spent an hour playing and designing!! I HAD to build the biggest most pimped out one I could just to keep triplets amused!! lol OK I lie..I built one for ME if I was a kid!! haha 3 swings, tube slide, green extra slide...tire swing, buoy swing, 2 rock walls and a draw bridge haha...ohhh and a sandbox with lid!! Hmmmmm now to measure out my backyard to figure out how much land I need to BUY to fit it all in....ok I have enough room, lets do it!!
  • What a fun website, I think I could spend forever doing this. I went all out and designed a 5' & 7' Tower Combo with the 4 Swings Ext frame and added ALL the fixings. Two swings, baby swing, glider, bouy ball (even though I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it looks like fun), tire swing, two green slides and a tube slide, balcony, ladder, drawbridge, rock wall, sand box with lid... I don't think something this size would actually fit in my yard, but wow would it be cool. Thanks!
  • I would love one with 3 swings (one baby one) a slide, climbing wall, ladder, wood top, sand box, handles, and a steering wheel and telescope!
My son would love it! He is such and outside kid! :)
  • I had to design a two-tower swing set so that I could add a cool tube slide! I also included a picnic table, another regular slide, some swings, a ladder (naturally), and a balcony! The tube slide and the balcony are my two favorite features of the design. :)
  • andrea61071
Oh my I'm choosing way too much. I like the draw bridge, Need at least two swings and i like the doube slides and a tube slide on the other side. My son like the rock wall. Sand box underneath. Daughter wants tire swing. I like the canopy.
  • bettina75
I chose the largest frame. Then I added 3 tire swings, 3 regular swings, 2 set of monkey bars, 2 trapeze swings, handles, telescopes, steering wheels, rock walls, rope wall, yellow tube slide, long blue slide and a picnic table. It is awesome. I've probably left a couple of things out, lol!
  • amie
I for sure like the wooden roof, there was a picture on there of a roof with a chimney which I love but I couldn't see that as an option. I really like the tube slide but would like a regular slide as well. 3 swings, one baby, one glider and one normal. We share our yard with another family so I want there to be room for al of them. I really like the bridge but couldn't see where it went to. I like the picnic table for doing ourdoor crafts. It's a toss up for me between the draw bridge and rock wall. It would be fun to have the balcony with the draw bridge for imaginative 'fairy tale' play. Wow, so much to think about, this is great, I'll have to think some more but these are my initial thoughts.
  • I created my design.

Now I'd want 3 swings on a tower with a telescope and two gliders and monkey bars and some picnic table with a sandbox! Whoo :)

  • blima
The set would have 3 swings (cuz not more would fit) a swivel slide annd a long straight one, a ladder, sand box, a glider, monkey bars, rock wall. I would want more but my backyard isn't big enough and I wanted it to be practical. Thank you for a fun assignment lol:)
  • sheri
I just spent over an hour designing swing sets!! What a great feature! I am so happy to have found this company since I know we will be purchasing a swing set next year. Again, Bellaziza, you did the finding and now I will do the buying, haha!
  • I tried to be more practical this time as I went and made another swing set, I guess it doesn't have to be huge. It definitely still needs a couple slides though, my daughter loves slides. And both regular and baby swings, because there's nothing worse than bringing a baby to a swing set and not having a swing for them to sit in. I'm still skipping the monkey bars though, I think my laziness just makes me not a huge fan of those.
  • amybrewer
This is what I would choose for my kids
    3 swing design
    Red Swings
    Tube Slide
    5' Rock wall
    canopy (any color)
    Picnic table
    steering wheel
    telescope
    monkey bars
This would be my kids dream......
  • agordon10
doesn't work for me, can't get it to work at all.
  • My swingset has:

    5' tower
    2 swings
    1 trapeze bar
    slide
    ladder
    wooden canopy
    sandbox with lid

It was fun creating my own swingset. I think I might be playing with this for the rest of the night.
  • ltbodine
I could spend a long time on this website designing a playground! How fun.
  • What a distraction. May play for a while.
  • dwalline
I updated my shockwave but it still wont let me design it, it says I dont have the plug in, so i click to download and install but when i go back to the page it keeps making me download it!
  • bellaziza
Hmmm. If it's downlaoded that's great. Could it be perhaps that it now needs to be installed? Try opening up the update file and see what happens from there. Let us know how that goes too because if you're having this problem, others may be too. Kids Creations need to know:)!!

    Thanks!

    :)Crista

I apparently have expensive tastes since my ideal swing set costs over $5000. It includes 2 swings (definately a must), monkey bars, a 14' slide, a lot of stuff for climbing included a rock wall and rope ladder and a sand box underneath. I had to include a telescope as well since we live in an area where you can really see the stars on a clear night.
  • Steve
I hope the pre-entry for the swing set is open for daily comments like your other swag giveaways. I have to say that designing your own swing set on their site is way too addictive. I can't tell you how long I spent just doing things like changing the colours of the same setup. lol

My dream swingset for my kids would include a couple swings, a big slide, and a whole lot of climbing and hanging things because that's what I liked best as a kid..and let's face it, I'm still a kid at heart. It would have to have monkey bars, and rope ladders and maybe a drawbridge and a rock wall. It would need a canopy for when it's raining and they still don't want to come inside, and a sandbox for when they're tired and just feel like sitting down to play. I'd also put in a plain old pole for climbing and sliding down, but I didn't see one there.
  • laufa
They are really cool, I know someone who has one and the kids love it. I know my kids would too.
  • kirsten
I don't know if this will count because I couldn't get the necessary plugins to lad to cusomize my own...:( But I really like the three ring adventure
  • Lisa R
  • tally2525
I would design the 5' tower with 2 red swings and a green slide!!! Mu toddlers could use this for years!!!
    cassandra@aubut.net
  • This was a lot of fun! I used the frame for four swings, one as a baby swing, one a glider and then one red and one blue swing. I added a balcony to my tower, a picnic table, tire swing, a tube slide, a 14' blue slide, a trapeze, a draw bridge, a ladder and a telescope! I could sit here all day making different designs haha :)
  • In response to dwalline and the shockwave problem from a few days ago, I had a hard time getting this to work at first too but then I just kept trying it and eventually it worked. I know that doesn't help solve the problem, but just letting you know that for me it just took trying a bunch more times!
  • dddiva
Not entirely sure this is right but I have the double tower extended 2 blue swing, glider, trapeze, blue slide, blue 14' slide, balcony, 7' rock wall, wood canopy, picnic table sand box & lid, telescope and I can't really tell but it ended up being $6,987.
  • Steve
I don't think there's anything I wouldn't put on my ideal swingset...of course practicality always seems to get in the way. It definately would need swings and a slide. The rest is just extra for that extra bit of fun. They have so many options for the custom swing sets I don't even know what some of them are. If practicality and money were no object I would definately include monkey bars, a large rock wall, climbing ropes, a sand box and a few accessory pieces.
  • One of the negatives about going to the playground in the summer is when the plastic things (slides, swings, etc) get too hot to play on. It would be great to have such a fun swing set at home because you could have shade or even put covers on things so that anytime could be playtime!
  • Coach Roberts
Well, I really am not too extravagant, but the swing set that I designed has a green cover on the tower, 1 blue swing, 1 baby swing, a blue slide, a wooden ladder up the back of the tower, and a sandbox below the tower with a cover. My husband and I just had our first child in Sept. 2008 and she is just to the point of being about to try to walk around, but she has enjoyed going to the park and swinging and going down the slide with me. I guess I didn't want my swing set to have too many options because I would like to take my children (when we have more) to playgrounds to play with other children and I wouldn't want them to just stay at home on their remarkable play set. The concept was great, though. Thanks for letting me play!
  • I feel like I could design and redesign swing sets on here for hours. It's too much fun to add and remove things and then move them to different locations!
  • I liked looking through the Customer Swing Sets Gallery and getting to see what people came up with when designing their own swing set. The pictures with cute kids out enjoying playing are really cute!
  • I seem to be having much more fun playing on my virtual swing set than everyone else is, I'm not sure what that says about me.

I really like the option of having the sandbox with cover underneath the swing set, I feel like that isn't something available on most play equipment. My daughter really likes swinging and climbing and sliding, but sometimes she just wants to rest and dig in the sand.
  • I bet if I had all five of my girls design their own swing set they would all come up with something awesome and unique to what each of them like. I love that this is strong and durable even for adults, that way I can get on it and play with my kids as well. I enjoy playing with my kids and this would be a dream come true for our house. Thank you for hosting this giveaway, I have my fingers crossed..

I love Kid's Creation!!! I have been checking out their website for the past year and it seems to have the best quality and the best price. We are planning on getting a playset from them for the next b-day or from Santa so an extra $500 off would be great! I love the 5 and 7 foot tower with a spiral slide, wave slide, 3 swings + either a tire swing or a disc swing. I go back and forth between the disc and the tire. I also want a drawbridge, rock wall, sandbox + cover, and picnic table. Kid's Creation has a wonderful website and the build a set feature is very easy to use. Love the chemical free con-heart redwood.
  • dddiva
I tweeted for today's entry- We want this so badly for Ian.
  • pgilbride
We have been looking at the different wooden swingset manufacturers for a possible purchase either this fall or maybe winter/spring (essentially whenever we can get a good deal....they are expensive). Basically we have a cheap pine swingset up now that was here when we moved in a few years ago. It is actually leaning slightly and needs to go. The wood is also splitting...it is just not safe anymore.

So I have been researching wood swingsets online...and have come to the conclusion that there are only 2 manufacturers to go with that makes the kind of set my kids will likely get. They are: Kids Creations and Rainbow.

What I know is that Kids Creations has the best wood of the 2, construction heart redwood. From what I've read, Rainbow uses redwood from the outer part of the tree...and this has sapwood in it which attracts bugs. They also use cedar. If you research wood prices on the internet you will find the construction heart redwood as being the most expensive and the highest quality. So I have to say Kids Creations gets the nod on the wood, which is 90% of what you are buying, really.

As far as the general look, Rainbows "look" funner to me....they seem more colorful, have a higher swing beam on some of their models, and have a neat design. We have been to a local dealer and my kids have a blast on them. But they are the more expensive. Because of their dealer network, there is a middleman involved in the process, which is the local dealer that sells you the unit. This may explain the cost difference. I know the Kids Creations is a smaller outfit when compared to Rainbow, and you are buying directly from their headquarters, ie no middleman....so this may explain their generally lower cost.

They both seem like good swingsets....just depends what you are looking to spend. Right now I'm leaning towards the Kid's Creations set. However, with winter approaching we may wait until the spring to pull the trigger unless we can get a really good deal. I don't think you can go wrong with either company.
  • OMG! These are beautiful. My kids would love love love to have one of these in our backyard. What a treat!!!

    Sara

  • pgilbride
Darn, don't know if my other post made it up here. Basically, for our family....I have narrowed it down to Kids Creations or Rainbow. Both good products. Kids Creation has the edge on the quality of the wood over Rainbow. However, Rainbow's seem to look "funner"...maybe it's based on the colors the use and the triangular shape of the design. You do pay more for the Rainbow due to the middleman cost of the dealer. At Kid's Creations....no middleman, big plus. In my opinion, Kid's Creations, Rainbow, and Cedarworks offer the best product out there for a backyard wooden swingset.

We will buy from one of these manufacturers when we decide to pull the trigger...just waiting on a good sale to come along....maybe in the fall or spring. These things aren't cheap.

  • I wish the designing had more flexibility so I could add more features to my online design. Afterall I want to dream big.

Having something like this in our yard would be super awesome! I tell you what....I'd be much happier than the kids! Seriously!. I've never had one of these ever or even played on any as a child so just imagine the child in me coming out.

I LOVE their website with all the options of what you can get for your family and oh oh oh the choices. It's like gaze-drooling!
I have dreams of saving up just to get me a fabulous set for my yard!

  • Oh my gosh that Big Ringer is out of this world cool. I won't even let my kids come to view it because I'll hear "can we get it?" I don't want to explain how it costs more than our vehicle.. lol thanks for the entry tho.
  • Holy cow, HoW did I miss this alert? I designed my own swing set with the smallest platform and a 2 sling swings, tire swing underneath. It added up to $1,400.
  • Justine
The swingset of my son's dreams(daughter is only 5mo old so she doesnt care lol) would have at least 2 slides a a couple swings, things he can climb really high up onto. This is super neat that you can design your own set!

I've been looking for a swingset for a while now, wildly swinging (ha, whoops, unintentional bad pun) between woodplay-type or creative playthings (not such good quality?, scary wood) then really got attached to cedarworks (just insanely expensive), still considering sunray or rainbow from costco - then found Kid's Creations mentioned and highly recommended by an installer on some other forums. I am blown away by their website, by the information on the manufacture, by the link to the redwood supplier (really appreciate that!), and finally by the ease of their application to build your own. I really also appreciate the transparent pricing, I'm very tired of jumping through hoops to find out how much a set costs. I am so impressed with the quality and the price, and the direct sales. We're in south florida so our outside season is just about to start, thanks so much for the info here!
  • tuesdayef
    So much fun!
I choose the 2 swingset frame, with an extension & high tower. Then I added things like a balcony, 7' rock wall, and telescope. We would LOVE to win this!

Thank you for this review! I've been looking at swing sets nonstop for about a week, so it was great to see your pictures and hear about your experience. I love their prices and quality! All of the elements of the set appear to be first class. I loved that they had a list of installers if you're not the handy type!

This company has been added to our shortlist!!!

I asked a question over email and they got back to me SO QUICK!

I love that these can be installed on a non-level surface!

I love everything about KC and agree with your review 100%. My husband, an analytical CPA, and I researched ad nauseum and we feel the same way as you....KC has the best quality for the lowest price - we really think it's the best system on the market. Plus, anytime we've had questions, the OWNER of the company, Jeff Snell, has personally taken the time to thoroughly answer them. We're now working on saving up enough money to make the purchase...our four kids can't wait, they are constantly asking us when we'll be getting their playset!
  • JSHELTON
I have been researching swing sets for months, I want quality, without breaking the bank! I'm considering kidscreations, nice to see positive reviews about a company and customer service. VERY IMPORTANT to me and my family. Keep up the good work!
