Oreo Truffles – These Things are Dangerous!

A friend of mine started making these and bringing them over. They are the richest, most awful thing you could probably do to yourself, but man, do they taste good!

You can use any type of chocolate for the coating, I suggest white or dark.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo Cookies
  • 1 package of Cream Cheese
  • 1 bag of chocolate chips

Directions

Crush Oreos – This is actually what made us finally go out an buy a food processor. Please do yourself a favor and use one! Or, as one reader suggested (Thanks, Aura!), put the Oreos in a bag and let your kids stomp on them!

Using a blender or diligently smashing with a spoon (the hard way), mix Oreos and cream cheese together.

Roll into 1 inch (or smaller) balls. Melt chocolate.

Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the chocolate. Set on wax paper and allow to harden.

Take to your next potluck!

Ooohhhh noooooo. Love Oreos. Love Chocolate. Don’t see this as being productive to me losing my baby weight. Gulp.

Yes, I know. I can only eat one of these a day – if that! My husband will eat 5 in one sitting. One of these days he’s going to go into a diabetic shock.

Had to laugh. I’ve had these things. They’re extremely dangerous– should come with a warning label, or something. And I, too, am the proud owner of a brand new food processor, which I aquired solely because Oreos are so darn tough to crush by hand!

I have a food processor, but it’s packed… along with everything ELSE we own. Gotta love a cross-country move!!!

Yummy! I may have to run out and get a processor!

My friend used to crush the Oreos by hand. It’s definitely doable, but it’s really hard work!

Also, we usually just mix the oreos and cream cheese by hand. I usually have hubby do it – I have to make him do some work for these babies!

I make these all the time and they are super yummy! During Christmas, I use the Candy Cane Oreos…and they are also delish!

Oh man…these sound worth the angioplasty!

Sounds unbelievable and with the cream cheese it’s actually quite appropriate for the Jewish holiday Shavuos coming up. To crush cookies without the food processor (I hate cleaning it) I stick some in a large ziploc bag and ask my son to stomp on it.
