By this point, every one of you has to have heard of Plain Mary, right?!?!  It’s causing a little hysteria on the baby scene in LA these days, as everyone just HAS to have one of Plain Mary’s Kensington Play Mats for their little one(s) and their other Plain Mary essentials like their tees, bibs and burp cloths too!  Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have them for Knox and Vivienne.  Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have them for little Max and Emme.  Jennifer Garner, Heidi Klum, Brooke Shields, Nicole Ritchie, Uma Thurman, and more have all used them with their babies too!  In short, if there was one single baby item that everyone in-the-know just could not live without, Plain Mary’s Kensington Play Mat would have to be it.

We first saw the Kensington Play Mat at a trade show in New York last fall.  We thought it was beautiful, but didn’t really see it up close to be able to appreciate the real reasons that it has become SUCH a success for Plain Mary!  After seeing a recent sample and putting it through our little battery of textiles tests, we can see why it’s so popular and an amazing product totally worth the $190 price tag.

It’s not just your average play mat, which is apparent from the beginning.  Where are the toys?  Where are the cutesy characters and patterns?  How about the chimey-digitized “music” that is sure to drive you nuts?  You’ll find none of those things here.  What you will find is twice the size of a traditional play mat!  It’s B.Y.O.T., but we like that since it can be overstimulating to have the usual ten different toys suspended overhead anyway!  The fabric is the most luxurious microfiber and it is virtually impossible to stain.  It is very cushy with the thick quilted padding,  hard for little hands to grasp (so it stays in place) and is surely one of the most useful things that you could have for your little one!

What we love most is the fact that after repeated wash and drys, stain tests, and more, not only does it look great, IT STILL LOOKS NEW!!! That’s amazing, and we really do try! We love the sturdy stitching in the quilting and the silk threaded embroidery is just luscious.

Mary Kate Olson, 22 (pictured here on the left with twin sister Ashley Olson) was seen last Friday walking into Petit Tresor, the super chic West Hollywood baby boutique.  According to our sources, her friend was teasing her about her belly and the two spent more than forty five minutes browsing Muu Nursery Furniture and then purchased a Ju Ju Be diaper bag, several layette items from Kissy Kissy, and some great blankets from Lotus Springs.

Now, these could of course be nothing more than great gifts for a friend.  This baby sure would be a charmer though with obvious father being Lapo Elkann, 31, known Italian playboy and heir to the Fiat empire!

How many moms and dads out there appreciate a fine mattress?  When you sleep, it’s your body’s and mind’s chance to recharge and renew.  Your mattress is the foundation of your day then, if you think about it.  A good night’s rest is essential to maximizing productivity and is even a health issue at points.

Why is your baby or toddler any different?  We don’t think they are.  Not to mention that when sweet little  Junior sleeps well, it’s a huge quality of life improvement for the whole family, right?!?!  That is precisely why we decided to go out and find THE absolute best crib mattress available.  There is a lot more to it than we had thought initially though, so sit back and relax mom and dad.  We’ve really done our homework again, so that you don’t have to!

Everyone is going organic these days it seems.  With mattresses though it really is a huge health benefit though, and for reasons that most of us probably weren’t even aware of!  Anyone out there have kids with respiratory issues or allergies?  We found out that many times these problems are either caused or exacerbated by the child’s mattress!  There are also some pretty harmful chemicals that are leeched out of your average to better crib mattress.  Who wants their child exposed to this and why did the manufacturers think that it is okay to do that to our kids?  For more info, we found a great resource at www.healthychild.com that will fill you in on all of the details.  Be warned though, once you read this, you’ll think better of what it is that your children are sleeping on.  Our search for Bellaziza’s Favorite Crib Mattress became much more important after reading this article and many others like it.

The good news is that MUCH better options are available!  Our Favorite crib mattress is by Netto Collection and it is everything that you could possibly want or ever need in a crib mattress.  It incorporates different accessories by Netto that actually make it into more of a mattress system.  When used together, the elements of this set make for the most beautifully restful and healthy sleep that any child could dream of.  Do they come in adult sizes?!?!?  Um, no.

First, the mattress itself is superior quality sized down for a baby.  It is made in the USA with 242 elliptical innersprings, 100% certified organic wool and cotton.  It is truly divine.  It is a standard sized crib mattress (6″ thick x 28″ wide x 52″ long) so it will fit in any standard sized crib.

We were shocked when we compared mattresses – a regular national brand crib mattress purchased for just over $200 at a local mass baby retailer (that was actually on the higher end of what was offered) to the Netto Collection’s mattress.  We expected a difference, but just based on comfort alone, the Netto won hands down.  We actually laid down on each one to feel the difference for ourselves and there was just no contest… an absolute apples to oranges.

You may think like we did, how am I supposed to keep a baby mattress clean when it’s covered in COTTON???  That’s the truly brilliant part of the system.  They incorporate their Organic Wool Mattress Protector and Organic Quilted Mattress Pad to combat any possible messes or moisture.  They are absolutely effective and everything is easily cared for right in your own washing machine.  The quilted pad absorbs and provides extra coziness while the merino wool protector prevents any liquids from permeating through to the mattress.  It works, and it’s flawless in our opinion.

How many dishes does the average mom go through before finding something that actually works so well that it’s all that you’ll use?  At Chez Bellaziza, it was at least ten.  Good dishes help to avoid toddler messes and help to teach self-feeding, so it’s worth the investment on whatever new product seems like it will work best.  We wanted to find the absolute best options for you though and we are sure that Boon is it!  The whole line is 100% BpA, Phthalate and PVC free and as it’s Boon, you know the quality is very high, yet the price won’t break the bank.

Boon’s line of kids dishes is very well thought out and works incredibly well for so many reasons.  They are the type of product that you will wash and rewash to use at every meal before you get the half-dozen or so in the mail that you’re SURE to want after your first experience.  We’re hooked for sure on a few things from their collection and like the others too.

Our Favorites are the Catch Bowl, Benders and Snack Ball.  These are the ‘can’t live without’ type of Favorite Things too!  We also love the Groovy interlocking plate and bowl set for fun family meals…think the cutest little bowls ever for applesauce or ketchup!  It’s great, but the super duper suction cup and drip lip on the Catch Bowl makes it our absolute Favorite.  We did run into a very little (as in barely noticeable at all) staining issue with the Catch Bowl and Groovy.  After speaking with our friends at Boon about it though, it’s because of it being BPA free…something we can TOTALLY forgive, right moms and dads!?!?  Also, it’s important to mention that this staining only happened after being used with tomato-based foods, and came 90% of the way off through the next few cycles in the dishwasher!  In the end, the Catch Bowl and Groovy are still fabulous products and we love Boon’s commitment in their priority to providing safe products.  Go Boon!

As another of our Favorite Things from the Boon Feeding line, their Benders are just so smart!  They bend at the front and stay in place to facilitate those little arms successfully meeting the fork and spoon up with that adorable little mouth.  INCOMING!  They’re really great and are totally adjustable so that you can bend a little more or less to help your little sweetie into successful self-feeding.  What a proud moment!

The Snack Ball is too wonderful for words and is a must for daily use as well as any trip out of the house here.  It’s big enough to hold a good-sized portion of your little one’s fave snack, but small enough to fit nicely in those sweet baby hands.  The open/close movement of the lid is very secure, but easy for them to manipulate.

With the Fluid, we loved the fact that it’s BpA, Phthalate and PVC free without costing an arm and a leg, that it was so easy to hold and contains no extra pieces like most other sippy cups.  You could also tether it to the stroller or car seat so easily too to prevent dropping!  It’s really great!  Little Bellaziza is more Little Houdini most days though and popped the top off after only a few days of using it though.  Messy!!!  Our word on this?  If you think your child is possibly a future safe cracker, (thinking of Charlize Theron in The Italian Job) the Fluid may not be for you.  If not it’s great!

With Tom Brady out of the game due to his recent knee injury and surgery, it’s given him more time to spend with that sweet little Jack!  It definitely sounds like a win-win to us, well unless you are the Patriots or a fan.  Oh well, all of our best wishes to Tom and the Pats!  He’ll be back before you know it!

In Tom’s extra little off-season, besides surgery a week ago, recovery and starting rehab soon back in Boston, he has been doing a little shopping for Jack!  He’s been in LA for a few days before heading back to Beantown and ordered some lovely things from Petit Tresor!
